Backwards down the slip road

Or first night out and we grabbed a taxi from the courtyard at the hotel,  and asked to be taken to Park Road, which we knew the way. No seat belts and a door that was held shut with wire,  we slipped into the flowing traffic, constantly honking the horn and started up the slip road to the over pass which was the wrong way.

I yelled at the driver we should have gone left and he responded by slamming on the brakes,  bearing in mind we are in two lanes of fast flowing traffic, and stopping.
He then proceeded to reverse down the slip road using just his reversing mirror,  causing absolute havoc with all the oncoming traffic. It must have been around 500 yards before he stopped and then turned left add If it was an everyday thing.
