And then we came back..

The taxi dropped us off at Park Road,  which is a street of bars and restaurants, and within a couple of seconds James was accosted by a little girl selling balloons.   She was a sweet little thing and James decided to give her 100 rps (about a pound), so she is now nicely bouncing along next to James very happy.

This was obviously spotted by the father who then came over with his balloons.

Then the mother who had a little baby girl joined us as well,  with more balloons,  it was starting to resemble something from the film Up.

Now they all want money,  and this is attracting more attention so we are getting a small crowd following us and it was starting to get a bit to much.  So we had no choice but to stop in the next restaurant we saw and duck away from the crowds.

Clearly it is better not to give than give in this case. Also cost us a small fortune and it ended up being an upmarket curry house!

Everyone had gone when we came out,  so we grabbed a taxi again,  and the driver who did not understand English looked blankly at us, so we gave directions.

Straight ahead we said to the end of the road,  not realising that it was a one way street ahead.

That didn't stop the driver who literally just drove straight into the oncoming 4 lanes of traffic,  and we weaved from left to right as we dodged everything coming towards us.  Only in kolkata.
Anyway arrived back on but decided on reflection that we would use the hotel taxi from this point on. ...
